Twins, alias Mo & Benoelie are two sound freaks annex DJ's with
a passion for pleasing the crowd. They have been a part of the Belgian
party scene from the early days of the "roaring 80ies"
through to a variety of electronic music of the '90s. Their varied
mix selection can be pinpointed by their need for soul fullness.
Their most striking quality is that they can make everybody move,
by choosing and combining the best records out of the history of
popular and contemporary music. Now Mo & Benoelie are resident-dj's
at Culture Club (the new Belgian top club), Eskimo, Bel Mondo, Kozzmozz
and Poplife.
Inspired by
Grandmaster Flash and DMC contest tapes they started DJ'ing together
in 1985 in a small club in Ghent. They covered not only hiphop
but also popular tunes from that time and classics from way back.
In '92 Mo & Benoelie went along with the house revolution
and from that moment on, they were invited to the most important
gigs in Belgium and in the rest of Europe. They played with the
likes of Carl Craig, Moodymann, Alex Patterson, Juan Atkins, Depth
Charge, Derrick May, Dave Clarke, Ashley Beedle, Harvey, Faze
Action, Kevin Saunderson, Aphex Twin, Howie B, Dzihan & Kamien,
Kruder & Dorfmeister. In the meantime Benoelie worked in "Music
Man", the major record & import shop in Belgium. His
passions for sounds made him quit his job and take up an audio
engineering course in Amsterdam. He was also A&R-manager at
R&S records. Mo just finished his Art school in Amsterdam
(famous Rietveld academy). Now he's busy with a sound installation
project all over Europe
.
They made
the crowd go wild at l'Aeronef (Lille, France), Mix Move 2000

d'Anvers, Fill Collins, Fifty Five, I Love Techno, 10 Days Off...,
Silo, Food) Over the years they have been digging through their
extensive record collection to compile several compilations including
the successful Eskimo compilation (Vol 3 out now). They also compiled
the Free The Funk Compilation 1,2,3,4 and 5 (R & S Records),
STRAIGHTFROMVINYL session one (R & S Records 2000) and last
but not least Blue Note's Sidetracks Vol. I (Blue Note - EMI).
